CHROMA

Year: 2020

Location: Black Rock City, NV

Team: Guvenc Ozel, Benjamin Ennemoser

Initially designed for Burning Man 2019, Chroma is an inflatable dome and amphitheater that serves as a refuge, gathering spot and a performance stage. In order to construct and take down the pavilion quickly and easily, most of the structural components are either modulated or constructed off-site prior. The largest component of the pavilion, the inflatable bubble, is made to order and is inflated on site in a matter of minutes. The large staircase is made supported by off the shelf scaffolding components. A robotic projection system is positioned at the center of the dome, displaying images on the fritted surface of the dome membrane. An LED lighting array is installed underneath the amphitheater structure, serving as an interactive backdrop to live DJ performances.
